Yuri Alemao Moves 4 Private Member Resolutions on ANT- Defection Law and…

Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao today moved four Private Member Resolutions on Anti-Defection Law, Widow Discrimination, Opinion Poll Day and Political Reservations for Scheduled Tribes. If listed in the Business of the House, the same will come for discussion on Friday 19th July 2024.

I have once again raised the most contentious issues pertaining to Goa and Goans. I hope these Resolutions will get listed and the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar will allow elaborate discussion on the same, said Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.

I hope the Government will take serious note of the Private Member Resolutions which come up for discussion in the House and speedily act on the Assurance given in the House. I am feeling deeply hurt that Government did not do anything on bringing a Law on Stopping unjust practise of Widow Discrimination in Goa, said Yuri Alemao.

It is high time that the Xth Schedule of the Indian Constitution is amended to strengthen the Anti-Defection Law. There is need of giving Political Reservation to Scheduled Tribes. All 40 Members of the Goa Legislative Assembly should support both these Resolutions and together impress upon Central Government to take necessary steps, stated Yuri Alemao.

Goa Government is conveniently avoiding to declare Opinion Poll Day as State Function. This day has retained the Identity of Goa. My Resolution will surely help in knowing views of each and every MLA on this day of historic importance. It is our duty to commemorate Asmitai Dis with grand celebrations, said Yuri Alemao.

The Private Member Resolutions will come for Discussion on 19th and 26th July and 2nd August 2024. On each Friday which is the day of Private Members Business, 5 Resolutions are admitted by the Speaker.
