‘Support price to cashew is Congress demand, Govt must issue notification’

I am consistently after the BJP Government to give a Support Price of Rs. 175 per kg to Cashew. Now with an eye on the Loksabha Election, the Agriculture Department has moved a proposal to give Rs. 170 as Support Price. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant must issue a Notification immediately for ₹175 per kg & give credit to the Congress Party, stated Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa.

Reacting to the reports of Proposal moved by the Agriculture Department to give Support Price of Rs.170 to Cashew, Altone D’Costa said that this is Election Jumla of BJP to lure Farmers.

Let the Government Walk the Talk and issue a Notification immediately. Even if the Notification is issued, it is only because of consistent followup from the Me and Congress Party that the BJP Government is compelled to increase the Support Price, claimed Altone D’Costa.

I had shown the plight of Cashew Farmers during an interview with a  Media Channel just a few days back. People of Goa had seen in that video how Cashews with Nuts are left to rot as there is no demand. Unfortunately, the Government remained busy in Celebrating Events when Farmers were Crying, said Altone D’Costa.

The BJP Government has mastered the art of Jumlabazi. They make big announcements but there is absolutely no implementation. This Government has failed even to score a passing percentage of 35 in Budegt Implementation, stated Altone D’Costa.

I appeal to the Farmers not to trust this Government  till Notification for Rs.175 per kg Support Price is announced and actual money is transferred to the Farmers, said Altone D’Costa.
