Madganvcho Awaaz and Youth Leader Prabhav Naik have expressed their concerns over the ongoing issues plaguing Margao, following a response from Dy.SP (Traffic) on 29th January 2025 to a representation submitted on 12th August 2024. Naik has raised questions regarding the efficiency of the government in addressing these persistent challenges.
The primary issues highlighted include chaotic traffic management, unregulated heavy vehicle movement, severe traffic congestion, and an unorganized parking system, all of which continue to pose risks to the safety and convenience of citizens. Naik questioned whether Margao MLA Digambar Kamat would address these pressing concerns.
In a press statement, Prabhav Naik criticized MLA Digambar Kamat for remaining passive in the face of citizens’ difficulties. Naik pointed out that his memorandum submitted to the South Goa Collector on 12th August 2024 included several suggestions to alleviate the issues. These suggestions included relocating schools from Margao City to the Davorlim Educational Hub, demarcating parking areas, notifying city bus stops, and making optimal use of the Old Bus Stand. The response from Dy.SP (Traffic) to the Deputy Collector acknowledged these points, indicating that no substantial progress has been made in the last five months.
Naik also raised concerns about the underutilization of the South Goa Collectorate Complex, stating that many administrative offices still operate from Margao City despite claims of creating a dedicated complex. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of elected representatives to address citizens’ grievances and ensure their well-being.
Expressing his disappointment, Naik remarked that MLA Digambar Kamat seems more focused on promoting nepotism than resolving critical civic issues. He urged the South Goa Collector to take prompt action and resolve the long-standing problems faced by Margao residents. Naik also called upon MLA Digambar Kamat to either take decisive steps to address the situation or acknowledge his inability to do so.
Madganvcho Awaaz remains committed to advocating for the welfare of Margao citizens and has vowed to continue raising these issues, even if it means resorting to public demonstrations.
