Congress Needs To Pull Socks; Party Office Bearers Vocal in Goa
Panaji :
Loksabha Election fever is going high with the scorching heat of Summer in Goa, but all Opposition MLAs appear Cool though Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant is on an Offensive firing Salvos on Opposition Candidate & Leadership one after the other.
It is the Organisational Leadership of all Political Parties who have come together under the INDI Alliance and are active on the ground with press interactions and countering the BJP offensive.
Congress President Amit Patkar, AAP President Amit Palekar, Goa Forward Gen. Secretary Durgadas Kamat, RG Chief Manoj Parab and a few of the other Office Bearers of their Parties are vocal in taking up issues, but the Elected MLAs of Congress, AAP, and Goa Forward and Revolutionary Goans are quiet and don’t refute or defend BJP attack.
A survey conducted in the State shows that People want MLAs to be vocal and corner the Government on Corruption, Unemployment, Law and Order. They question the intentions of all MLAs’ reluctance to take on the Government head-on.
Bhikaji Shirdokar from St. Andre wants RG MLA Viresh Borkar to join other Opposition Parties and give a direct fight to the BJP. We want them in Assembly, not Loksabha, he said.
Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares is found only on Social Media. He is not on the ground. He is an advocate but he speaks sometimes, said young Dipali Khorjuvenkar.
Cuncolim resident Christopher Coutinho questions on passive role of their Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao who is also holding the post of Leader of Opposition. “He just took one meeting here with Congress Candidate. No one has come to meet us in our ward which has 800 votes” Christopher had a complaint.
Benaulim is with Capt. Viriato. But why all the Opposition is not moving together? Capt. Venzy Viegas has so far organised many Corner Meetings, but all MLAs should attend are the views of Jackson Vaz.
Quepem was different when asked about the Canvassing. Our MLA Altone D’Costa has come and met us. He visits every small Village in Quepem, informed Bhago Velip. He comes regularly to our Village and helps us, Khushali Gaonkar informed.
There is confusion in Velim, local AAP MLA Silva Cruz is sidelined by Congress District President Savio D’Silva who takes separate meetings. Congress and AAP Leadership should stop these differences, is the opinion of John Rebelo.
If all MLAs move together it will send a positive message. We want our Vijay Sardessai to lead the Campaign. Congress is slow here, said Jose Noronha of Fatorda.
People expressed that all Opposition MLAs to unite and expose the Government. BJP failed on many issues, but Opposition MLAs are not taking them. They must be frightened of ED, CBI, Income Tax is the opinion of many goans.
Overall, it looks to be tough for the Opposition in the campaign trail. They should not waste more time. MLAs are elected to Speak and they have to do their duty.
