Amul pays tribute to women officers who led Operation Sindoor briefing

New Delhi :
India’s iconic dairy brand Amul has released a new topical artwork in tribute to Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, the two women officers who led the tri-services press briefing on Operation Sindoor earlier this week.

Known for its quick-witted responses to current events, Amul’s illustration features its blue-haired mascot saluting the officers at a press podium, set against a dramatic backdrop of fighter jets and aerial operations. The image is captioned with the pun, “Send them Pakking,” while the bottom line reads, “Amul, proudly Indian.”

Operation Sindoor: Precision strikes across PoJK

The tribute follows India’s precision air and ground strikes carried out under Operation Sindoor on May 7. The mission targeted nine terror infrastructure sites located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.

During the briefing, Wing Commander Singh and Colonel Qureshi outlined operational details, marking a rare instance of women leading a high-level military communication on national security. Their poised delivery has been widely appreciated across media and defence circles.

Rafale jets, SCALP and HAMMER missiles used

As part of the operation, India deployed Rafale fighter aircraft armed with SCALP and HAMMER missiles. Targets in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sialkot, and Muzaffarabad were hit during a 25-minute coordinated mission. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh later confirmed that over 100 terrorists were killed in the strikes.

Cross-border hostilities escalate

Following India’s strikes, Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks aimed at military installations in Jammu, Udhampur, and Pathankot. Indian air defences intercepted the projectiles, with no casualties reported.

Tensions escalated further on Friday with Pakistani shelling reported along the LoC in Kupwara and Uri. Indian forces responded swiftly. The exchange came just a day after heavy shelling from across the border killed 16 Indian civilians, including five children and three women.

Security alert in border cities

Air raid sirens were activated in Chandigarh early Friday amid warnings of a potential aerial threat. Residents were advised to remain indoors. Authorities also enforced blackouts overnight in Jammu, Srinagar, Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Barmer as a precautionary measure.

Women in uniform earn public recognition

Amid the heightened tensions, the symbolic significance of Wing Commander Singh and Colonel Qureshi’s leadership at the press briefing has drawn public admiration. Amul’s latest illustration not only highlights their role but also underscores the growing visibility of women in the Indian armed forces.
