Panaji : As Goa gears up to host the 10th, 11th, and 12th editions of the Goa State Film Festival from 14 to 17 August 2025, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant unveiled the festival’s new official logo, describing it as an emblem that captures the cultural and cinematic spirit of the state.
The logo marries two powerful symbols: a camera shutter, signifying the precision and artistry of cinema, and a spiral shell, deeply evocative of Goa’s cultural heritage, representing growth, protection, continuity, and the cycle of life. This fusion reflects the festival’s theme, “Celebrating 75 Years of Goan Cinema”, and positions the logo as a visual metaphor for storytelling rooted in local identity and artistic evolution.
On unveiling the design, CM Sawant commented:
“We just released the logo of the Goa State Film Festival (GSFF). This festival is especially for the Goan language, Konkani, and Marathi. Almost 24 films have participated in this.” He added that the GSFF is expected to “generate a similar level of enthusiasm among cinephiles as the international film festivals.”
Organised by the Department of Information and Publicity and executed by the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), also responsible for IFFI, the festival has received 19 feature film entries (18 in Konkani, one Marathi) and 4 non-feature films, alongside 43 registrations for ESG’s “48 Hours Short Film Making Competition.”
Officials hope the logo will not only bring luck to the Goan film fraternity but also become an enduring symbol of Goa’s thriving cinematic landscape. Delegates from the film community, students, enthusiasts, and media professionals are invited to register for the festival.
