Varsha Usgaonkar to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at Goa State Film Festival

Veteran Goan actress, singer, and social worker Varsha Usgaonkar will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming Goa State Film Festival, in recognition of her contributions to Hindi, Marathi, and Konkani cinema. The award will be presented during the closing ceremony on August 17.


The festival, combining its 10th, 11th, and 12th editions this year, will be inaugurated on August 14 by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Siolim MLA and ESG Vice-Chairman Smt. Delilah M. Lobo at INOX Screen 1, Panaji. Screenings will take place at Maquinez Palace Theatre and INOX, Panaji.

A total of 19 feature films and four non-feature films will compete for 21 awards in the feature category and seven in the non-feature section. Workshops and masterclasses will be conducted by Neelaabh Kaul, Pankaj Saxena, veteran actor Kanwarjit Paintal, and action choreographer Chitah Yajnesh Shetty. The winners of the 48-Hour Short Film Competition will also be announced on the opening day.

The opening ceremony will feature performances by playback singer Jolly Mukherjee, a solo band led by Mukesh Ghatwal, and a comedy act by Sagar Karande and Ankur Wadhave. From August 14 to 17, the INOX courtyard will host a food court and handicraft stalls.
