TVS Motor sets up Global Design Centre in Italy

TVS Motor Company on Thursday announced the establishment of its Global Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Design and Engineering in Bologna, Italy, following the acquisition of Italian automotive design and prototyping firm, Engines Engineering S.p.A.

The two- and three-wheeler major said the move is aimed at accelerating its premium and electric mobility portfolio while strengthening its global R&D capabilities. Engines Engineering, known for its work in high-performance motorcycle development and MotoGP, will be fully owned by TVS Motor under the agreement.

“The establishment of the new Italian Global Centre of Excellence marks another milestone in strengthening our capabilities and accelerating our journey to reimagine mobility,” said Sudarshan Venu, Chairman, TVS Motor Company. “By combining the creativity and racing expertise of Engines Engineering with our engineering and design strengths, we are expanding our ability to deliver premium, connected, and electric vehicles that set new global benchmarks.”

The CoE will function as an innovation hub, integrating concept-to-product development across digital simulation, rapid prototyping, and modular platform design. It will also focus on future technologies, including AI-driven design tools, advanced materials, and connected mobility solutions.

The company said the initiative would shorten product development cycles, enhance design flexibility, and bolster its premium portfolio, ranging from high-displacement motorcycles to advanced scooters and electric platforms. Importantly, the centre will also augment the engineering capabilities of Norton Motorcycles, TVS’s British luxury motorcycle marque.

TVS Motor emphasised that the initiative is designed to draw global talent and foster collaborations with universities, startups, and technology partners to drive innovation at scale.

The development aligns with the company’s long-term strategy to strengthen its position in international markets and deliver sustainable mobility solutions.
