Spiritual Guru Rajendra Maharaj passes away in Mumbai

Mumbai :  Saint Shiromani Spiritual Guru Dr. Rajendra Maharaj, revered for his message of faith, service and compassion, passed away on Sunday morning at his residence in Malad, Mumbai. He was delivering discourses and Amrit Vani for over five decades, drawing devotees from across communities and geographies. He was 79.


Dr. Rajendra Maharaj founded Amogha Dham in Malad (West) in 2001, where weekly satsangs became a confluence of devotees who gathered to chant the name of Lord Ram and embrace positive thinking. His message, “Have faith in your faith,” resonated with followers both in India and abroad.


On Monday morning, thousands of devotees joined the funeral procession that began from his residence, Guru Mahima in Sai Baba Park, Malad (West), and culminated at the Hindu Crematorium in Malad (West). Politicians including Union Minister Piyush Goyal, MPs and MLAs Gopal Shetty, Vidya Thakur and Aslam Shaikh, along with several business leaders and social workers, paid their respects.


An engineer by training, Dr. Rajendra Maharaj completed his BE from V.J.T.I. in Mumbai and devoted his life to linking science with spirituality. He conducted over 5,000 satsangs across the country and abroad, authored works such as White Flower and Bikharo Anmol Hokar, and inspired devotees to pursue both sadhana and social service. His initiatives included providing food for the poor, supporting students in need, tree plantation drives, and care for animals and birds.


His followers mark January 3, his birth anniversary, as International Day for Feeding the Poor, distributing meals to underprivileged communities across several locations in keeping with his vision.


In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Rajendra Maharaj was conferred an honorary doctorate by Jagdish Jhabarmal Tibrewal University, Rajasthan, in 2019, and was also felicitated with the Bharat Gaurav Samman by then Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

The passing of Dr. Rajendra Maharaj has left an irreparable void in the spiritual world. His teachings, however, continue to serve as a guiding light for his disciples and admirers.
