‘Release Inspection Report on Kala Academy’
Margao: If the Leader of Opposition is serious about Kala Academy, he must immediately make public the Inspection Report he promised after his July 2024 visit. People want proof, not posts. He should also look into the issues at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, in Salcete. Act, don’t just react, stated former member of the Goa State Cultural Development Committee, Vishal Pai Cacode.
Reacting to the social media post of the Leader of Opposition on the Foundation Day of Kala Academy, Vishal Pai Cacode urged him to take proactive and time-bound steps in the interest of the local artist community.
It may be recalled that during his July 2024 visit to Kala Academy, the Leader of Opposition was accompanied by officials from the Department of Art and Culture, Kala Academy and the PWD. He had also interacted with world-renowned sound engineer Roger Drago to understand the technical dimensions of the refurbishment, stated Pai Cacode.
At that time, he had assured that a detailed Inspection Report would be prepared and submitted to the government. Placing this report in the public domain will assist the artist community that has been consistently raising concerns about the structural, technical and administrative future of the institution, said Pai Cacode.
Vishal Pai Cacode further stated, “Simultaneously, the functioning of Ravindra Bhavan Margao in Salcete deserves equal attention. Concerns have been raised about its administrative style and the absence of regular, officially structured classes in performing arts such as music, dance and theatre.”
