Raavi Kishor’s ‘Guncha’ Selected For The ‘Toulouse Indian Film Festival’ in France

Goan stage and screen actress Raavi Kishore’s new short film Guncha has been officially selected for the prestigious Toulouse Indian Film Festival in France. Guncha will have its world premiere at the festival, which will be held from April 23 to April 27, 2025. The short film is produced and directed by Himanshu Singh, and the roles of two women from different economic backgrounds in Mumbai are portrayed by Raavi Kishore and Gauri Kadu. Raavi Kishore is known for her multilingual talents and has acted in Konkani, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Marathi, English theatre plays, films, and web series.
Directed by Himanshu Singh, Guncha tells the story of an ordinary worker in the metropolis who lacks a distinct identity. Himanshu spoke about the success of his short film, saying, “Through this story, we have made an honest attempt to understand and convey the complexities of women’s lives. We have shown how working-class people bring their human sensibilities to big cities and manage them independently. Therefore, we are confident that the story of the working class in the metropolis will resonate globally through ‘Toulouse.'”
Raavi Kishore and Himanshu Singh have previously worked together as artists and directors on Konkani short films that have been acclaimed at various film festivals around the world, including IFFI, Kupancho Daryo, Ardh Dees, and Ghartan. Guncha is the first Hindi short film from this duo, shot effectively by Vishesh Gandhi during the Mumbai rains. Gopal Sudhakar handled the editing, while Pankaj Katware directed the art.
“The story we have created in this short film is the story of all the common people who are away from home, taking care of their households and trying to do everything possible for them. The director, Himanshu Singh, trusted me with this important and responsible role. For me, it was a significant challenge. On this occasion, I shot for the first time in a running local train in Mumbai. The entire team worked hard on this project, and now I believe that ‘Guncha’ being selected for ‘Toulouse’ is a recognition of all our hard work,” quoted Raavi Kishore, Actress, Guncha.
