Mumbai : In a major initiative to empower the differently-abled, Narayan Seva Sansthan, a Udaipur-based nonprofit, will organize a free artificial limb distribution camp in Mumbai on Sunday, June 8. A total of 419 individuals with physical disabilities will receive German technology-based prosthetic limbs, helping them regain mobility and independence.
The full-day Narayan Limb and Caliper Fitment Camp will be held at Nico Hall, Naigaon Cross Road, near Wadala Udyog Bhavan, Dadar (East), Mumbai – 400014, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. All services will be provided free of cost to pre-selected beneficiaries.
Life-Changing Support for the Differently-Abled
According to Mahesh Agrawal, President of the Mumbai branch of Narayan Seva Sansthan, the organization has been serving differently-abled individuals for over 40 years through free prosthetics, surgeries, education, and vocational training.
The 419 beneficiaries were shortlisted during a limb measurement camp held in Mumbai on March 23, where over 500 patients were assessed. These individuals lost their limbs due to road accidents, congenital conditions, or other mishaps.
“Our goal is to help people walk again and lead self-reliant lives,” Agrawal said. “By restoring mobility, we’re restoring dignity.”
Advanced Prosthetics, Free Meals, and Training
The prosthetic limbs, developed using cutting-edge German technology, will be fitted on-site. Beneficiaries will also receive walking training, and the Sansthan will provide free meals to all attendees. A dedicated team of 40 professionals from the organization will manage the entire operation.
A Legacy of Service Since 1985
Founded in 1985 by Padma Shri awardee Shri Kailash Manav Ji, Narayan Seva Sansthan has helped over 40,000 individuals with free artificial limbs and regularly conducts camps in India and abroad, including in Kenya, Uganda, Nepal, and Tanzania. The organization currently provides prosthetics to around 1,500 people every month.
In 2023, the Sansthan’s President Prashant Agrawal received a National Award for his contributions to the empowerment of the differently-abled through healthcare, education, and sports.
Promoting Inclusive Development
The upcoming Mumbai camp aims to reintegrate people with physical disabilities into mainstream society, aligning with the NGO’s mission: “Nar Seva – Narayan Seva” (Service to Humanity is Service to God).
By empowering the differently-abled, Narayan Seva Sansthan continues to drive inclusive growth and contribute to a more equitable India.
