The Mangalorean Konkan Christian Association (MKCA) celebrated its 24th annual Christmas celebration, popularly known as Natal Fest, at St. Hubert’s Church Hall in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The event marked the birth of Jesus Christ and brought together MKCA members and guests for prayer, cultural activities, and fellowship.
The celebration began with a general Holy Eucharist attended by members and guests. This was followed by a cultural programme, which opened with a welcome address by MKCA president Leonard Lobo Shenoy. In his address, Mr. Shenoy outlined the programme agenda and explained the significance of Kuswar and Christmas traditions observed in the greater Mangalorean region of India. He thanked members and guests for their continued support of MKCA’s annual activities and expressed gratitude to the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Tom Abraham, for making the venue available.
Mr. Shenoy also acknowledged the efforts of the organising committee and invited suggestions from members to enhance future programmes. He introduced Savio Pais as the incoming president for the next two-year term and briefed the audience on the planned activities for the evening. The gathering then enjoyed traditional ethnic appetizers.

A series of group activities for children, couples, and adults was conducted by Savio Pais, drawing enthusiastic participation across age groups. Members and children joined together to sing Christmas carols. The arrival of Santa Claus, portrayed by Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu, delighted the children, who received Christmas gifts and posed for photographs.
Mr. Pais later thanked the organising committee for their efforts and recognised members who contributed to the preparation of Christmas Kuswar, led by vice-president Charel Alsamurrai.
The celebrations concluded with a traditional ethnic dinner, followed by music and dancing. Under the DJing of Jossie Mendonca, attendees danced to Konkani, Hindi, Kannada, and Spanish songs, bringing the festive evening to a lively close.
