Kharge to Attend Goa Statehood Day Celebrations on May 30

Panajim :
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will attend the Goa Statehood Day celebrations on May 30, following an invitation extended by the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC).

In a statement issued on Tuesday, GPCC President Amit Patkar confirmed that he and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader Yuri Alemao met with Mr Kharge in Bengaluru and held detailed discussions on party affairs in the State.

Mr. Patkar said the Congress President “graciously accepted” the invitation and affirmed his participation in the Statehood Day event, terming the visit a “moment of pride and inspiration” for the party’s rank and file in Goa.

The meeting also focused on the prevailing political climate in the State. Mr. Patkar alleged that the BJP-led government in Goa had failed to address key public concerns and said growing dissatisfaction among citizens was discussed at length.

The Congress leaders reportedly reviewed strategies for the 2027 Assembly elections, emphasising strengthening the party at the grassroots and offering what Mr. Patkar described as a “credible, people-centric alternative” to the ruling BJP.

“Mr. Kharge’s confidence in the State leadership will significantly boost morale across the organisation,” Mr. Patkar said, adding that the Congress is committed to what he termed a “movement to reclaim Goa’s future.”

The GPCC reiterated its resolve to safeguard Goa’s identity, uphold democratic values, and protect the rights of its people.
