Margao : Youth leader and Madganvcho Awaaz representative Prabhav Naik has raised serious concerns over the low representation of Goan students in ISRO YUVIKA 2025 program — a prestigious national-level science outreach initiative aimed at school students.

Out of 350 students selected across India, only 10 are from Goa, and just 4 bear distinctly Goan names, sparking debates around equity, outreach, and state-level support for scientific education in Goa.

“Where Is the Support for Goan Students?”: Prabhav Naik

“I congratulate all the selected students and wish them a bright future,” said Naik. “However, the numbers from Goa are alarmingly low. It reflects a deeper issue — our students are not being adequately coached, informed, or supported to compete at the national level in fields like science and technology.”

Naik pointed out that programs like YUVIKA (Yuva Vigyani Karyakram) are designed to spark scientific curiosity and career readiness in youth. The underrepresentation of Goan students, he argued, is a symptom of weak infrastructure and outreach within smaller states.

ISRO YUVIKA 2025: Calls for Accountability from the Government of Goa

“What is the Directorate of Education doing to identify and prepare talented young minds from Goa?” Naik asked. He highlighted that while various coaching schemes have been announced over the years, the actual results — such as in the YUVIKA 2025 selection list — show little improvement.

Naik further questioned whether students from rural areas and government schools were being reached through awareness campaigns and training modules, emphasizing the need for transparent data and inclusive strategies.

Urgent Appeal for Policy Review and Student Empowerment

On behalf of Madganvcho Awaaz and concerned citizens, Naik has urged the Government of Goa to:

  • Review existing support systems for academic and competitive coaching.

  • Publish detailed reports on outreach and training efforts in schools.

  • Implement focused mentorship programs that empower local students, especially in rural and underprivileged areas.

“Goan students are full of potential,” Naik concluded. “But unless we act now with serious intent and structured support, they will continue to be sidelined in national programs like ISRO YUVIKA 2025.”
