PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday announced that Goa will host the Goa Street Race 2025, South Asia’s first oceanfront street circuit, as part of the Indian Racing Festival (IRF).

The 3.2-km circuit at Headland Sada, Bogda, will serve as the venue for Round 4 of the championship on November 1–2 next year. The announcement was made at Maquinez Palace, Panaji, in the presence of senior government officials and representatives from Racing Promotions Pvt. Ltd. (RPPL), the organisers of the event.

“This milestone will firmly establish Goa on the global sporting map. The event will boost tourism, generate employment, and inspire youth to explore careers in engineering, technology, and event management,” Dr. Sawant said.

The street circuit, designed along Goa’s coastline, is expected to pose unique challenges with crosswinds, salt-air exposure, and a mix of urban turns and sweeping straights. The double-header weekend will feature the Indian Racing League and the FIA-certified Formula 4 Indian Championship.

Celebrity team owners including John Abraham (Goa Aces), Arjun Kapoor (Speed Demons Delhi), Sourav Ganguly (Kolkata Royal Tigers), Sudeep Kichcha (Bengaluru), and Naga Chaitanya (Hyderabad Blackbirds) are expected to add star power to the event.

RPPL Chairman Akhilesh Reddy said the Goa circuit marks “a bold step that redefines India’s motorsport landscape” and builds on successful street races in Hyderabad and Chennai.

The Indian Racing Festival provides a structured pathway for young Indian drivers, while also featuring international names such as Alvaro Parente, Raoul Hyman, Neel Jani and Fabienne Wohlwend. The series continues to emphasise gender inclusivity with several women racers on the grid.

Organisers project significant economic gains from the event, with high tourist inflow, corporate sponsorship, and extensive broadcast reach across national and international platforms. The government expects the race to stimulate hospitality, transport, retail, and event management sectors in line with its goal of attracting high-value tourism.

With the November 2025 race, Goa will join the growing list of global cities with street circuits, positioning itself as a premier motorsport destination in South Asia.
