Goa Anti-Tobacco Film Festival to be held on May 31

Panaji: The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), in association with the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Goa Dental College and Hospital, will organise the 8th Goa Anti-Tobacco Film Festival on May 31, 2026, to promote awareness on the harmful effects of tobacco use through short advertising films.

The festival aims to highlight the health risks associated with tobacco consumption, including oral cancer and heart disease, while also encouraging socially relevant filmmaking through non-profit screenings. The theme for this year’s edition is “Unmasking the appeal: Countering Nicotine & Tobacco Addiction.”

The competition will be held in two sections — Goa and National. The Goa section is open to producers, production houses, students, and institutions based in Goa. Films may be in Konkani, Marathi, Hindi, or English, must not exceed two minutes in duration, and should include English subtitles.

The National section is open to participants from across India. Entries must be ad films in Hindi or English, not exceeding two minutes, and accompanied by English subtitles.

The last date for registration is April 17, 2026, and film submissions, along with supporting documents, must be submitted by May 13, 2026. Registration forms and detailed guidelines are available on the ESG website.

Cash prizes will be awarded in both categories. In the Goa section, the first, second, and third prizes carry ₹50,000, ₹30,000, and ₹20,000, respectively. In the National section, the prizes are ₹1,00,000, ₹50,000, and ₹30,000.
