Founders’ Day at St Thomas H.S.S Marked with First Aid Training

In a meaningful tribute to its visionary founder, Rev. Fr. Peter Marie Mermier, the YRC Unit and School Disaster Management Club of St Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona, organised a First Aid Training Course for its staff on the occasion of the 163rd anniversary of the Founder’s Day.
The day began with the lighting of the lamp followed by a prayer service in honour of the founder. The training session was conducted by Nurse Maya Gajanan Bhatkar and the team from the Indian Red Cross Society, Goa Branch, and covered vital areas such as CPR techniques, wound care, fracture management, snake and dog bites, epilepsy, and emergency response protocols.

Manager Rev. Fr. Jerard Sahayaraj (M.S.F.S.) appreciated the sessions and shared his reflections on the life and vision of the founder. The event was also graced by Principal Mrs. Angelica Fernandes, Rev. Fr. Terry Pinto (M.S.F.S.), Brother Thomas Kappili (Fransalian Community, Aldona), and other dignitaries.
In her vote of thanks, Principal Mrs. Angelica Fernandes emphasized that the training had equipped the staff to act swiftly and confidently in times of crisis, thereby strengthening the school’s preparedness and commitment to safety.
The programme was coordinated by teachers Nathalie Figueiredo and Daryl Abranches and was compered by teacher Larisa Fernandes.
