Costly Shocks During Festivals – Prabhav Naik

Margao: Madganvcho Awaaz & Youth Leader Prabhav Naik has strongly condemned the government for imposing steep hikes in LPG and power tariffs during the festive season, stating that such anti-people decisions only add to the hardships of common citizens.

Prabhav Naik recalled that last Diwali, the people of Goa were “gifted” with a hike in LPG prices. This year, on the very eve of Ravana’s symbolic defeat, the government has unleashed a new demon “MhargaiSoor”. Commercial LPG cylinders have been hiked by Rs.15.50, directly impacting small businesses and eateries already struggling with rising costs, he said.

Adding to this burden, from today onwards, Goa witnesses yet another annual 4 percent hike in power tariffs. This recurring increase will push household budgets further into crisis, leaving families with no respite even during days meant for celebration, claimed Prabhav Naik.

“Festivals are meant to bring joy and light into people’s lives. Unfortunately, this government is turning them into days of darkness, with relentless price hikes and rising costs that choke households and businesses alike,” said Prabhav Naik.

Madganvcho Awaaz reiterated its demand for the government to roll back such anti-people measures and prioritize policies that genuinely support the welfare of Goans, especially during festivals that symbolize victory of good over evil, light over darkness.
