"Congress Seeks NIA Probe Into Drug Trade in Goa After Major Seizure"

Panaji :
Following a significant drug seizure reported in Chicolna-Bogmalo today, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee has voiced serious concern over what it describes as an alarming rise in narcotics-related activities in the state.

In a statement issued by GPCC President Shri Amit Patkar, the Congress Party accused the ruling BJP government of failing to curb the growing drug menace, claiming that repeated seizures and ongoing smuggling operations point to a deeper, systemic issue. Patkar alleged that there may be a nexus between drug networks and individuals in positions of power, calling the government’s inaction either “negligent or complicit.”

The Congress Party has demanded:

  • A court-monitored NIA (National Investigation Agency) probe into the drug trade in Goa.

  • Suspension and investigation of any officials, including law enforcement and political figures, suspected of involvement.

  • A white paper from the state government detailing drug seizures and follow-up actions over the past five years.

“This is not only a matter of law and order, but one that affects Goa’s youth and the state’s social fabric,” Patkar said. He also warned that if these issues are not addressed transparently, the Congress Party would consider launching a statewide movement to raise awareness and seek accountability.

The statement concluded with a call for immediate and decisive action to protect Goa’s future and uphold the integrity of the state.
