Congress Demands Arrest And Blacklisting Of Nh-66 Highway Expansion Contractor

Congress Party today demanded immediate Arrest and Blacklisting of the Contractor of National Highway 66 for his complete negligence and failure to take Safety & Security Measures as well as doing Sub-Standard Work from Patradevi to Bambolim.

Congress Delegation comprising of GPCC President Amit Patkar, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Aldona MLA Adv. Carlos Ferreira, Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa, General Secretary Adv. Jitendra Gaonkar, North Goa District Congress President Virendra Shirodkar, Pelajia Pires and others visited the Landslide site at Naibag in Pernem and at Dhargal.

Congress Party is consistently raising the issue of the bad quality of works done by the Contractor M/s MVR Infra Projects Private Limited. The negligence of this Contractor has resulted in Deaths of innocent people. I had visited one of the Landslide sites in July 2022 and had pointed out that there is no adequate Drainage System along the Roads. Unfortunately, Government failed to act, stated Congress President Amit Patkar.

BJP Government is not taking any action against the Contractor because he is the Son-in -Law of the top BJP Leader. All the Projects carried out by the said Contractor have turned out to be of Sub-Standard Quality. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant must immediately act against the Contractor, demanded Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.

There are certain Norms and Guidelines which are required to be followed by the Contractors while undertaking the Government works. This particular Contractor is doing work without following any such Norms and Guidelines, said Aldona MLA Adv. Carlos Ferreira.

I urge the Government to undertake an Audit of all the Projects undertaken by this Contractor. BJP Government is protecting the Contractor who has taken lives of hundreds of people, said Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa.

It is really sad that despite me bringing it to the notice of the Government Authorities that the Landslides will happen, Government did not do anything which has now resulted in the Landslides which has led to Diversion of traffic causing inconvenience to public, said Congress General Secretary Adv. Jitendra Gaonkar.

Congress will further escalate the issue by meeting the Chief Secretary and other Government Officials and may also explore the legal Options if the Government fails to act even after so many tragedies.
