Budget 2025-26 Is Little Sweet & More Sour For Margao : Prabhav Naik

Margao :
Budget presented by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant is “Little Sweet & More Sour” for Margao. I appeal to the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to respect the sentiments of Madganvkars and take corrective measures, stated Madganvcho Awaaz & Youth Leader Prabhav Naik.
Reacting to the Budget 2025-26 announcement made by the Chief Minister on Wednesday, Prabhav Naik welcomed State Festival Status to Margao Dindi Mahotsav but criticised the Government for making provision of a negligible 5 crores for upgradation of South Goa District Hospital.
I urge the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to ensure that all the State Festivals are given adequate financial assistance and support to preserve their unique identity. We should not allow commercialization of the traditional festivals, said Prabhav Naik.
It is shocking to see the provision of just 5 crores for the upgradation of Hospicio South Goa District Hospital. People of South Goa are facing hardships in getting timely and affordable health care, but the Government’s priority is to fund events and festivals organised by defector Margao MLA, stated Prabhav Naik.
It is not enough to give “Temporary” status to Municipal Staff who have put in 7 years of service. Government must “Regularise” the services of all the employees who are working in all government departments for more than five years on a contractual basis, demanded Prabhav Naik.
Although the government has announced to undertake repairs of the heritage building of Margao Municipal Council, the urgent need is to put in place the administration as top priority, said Prabhav Naik.
It is a welcome announcement by the Chief Minister in his Budget speech to undertake all government recruitments through Staff Selection Commission. I reiterate my demand that recruitments in Margao Municipal Council should be done through Staff Selection Commission to maintain transperancy and discourage nepotism, said Prabhav Naik.
