Budding Anchors Shine at Statewide News Presentation Contest in Aldona

Aldona : St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona, in collaboration with its Parent Teachers’ Association, hosted the All Goa Inter-Higher Secondary School News Presentation Competition on Saturday, drawing participation from 15 higher secondary schools across the State.

Themed “Voices of Hope: News that Inspires, Uplifts, and Ignites Optimism,” the event encouraged students to present creative, PowerPoint-based news stories that highlighted positive narratives.

Chief Guest Pramod Acharya, Editorial Director of Prudent Media Network, lauded the participants for their professionalism and flair, noting that several performances rivalled those of seasoned news anchors. He urged students to continue highlighting stories that inspire optimism, while pointing out that the audience ultimately determines which stories gain visibility.

The judging panel also included Alisha Caraline Fernandes, Producer at Rashtra TV, and Nitiksha Mahadev Gaonkar, Reporter at Goa 365.

Principal Angelica Fernandes announced the winners and expressed gratitude to the participants and staff for the success of the programme.

Prize winners:

First Place: Juyee Manesh Gawas (Vasantrao Dempo HSS, Cujira)

Second Place: Carol Fernandes (St. Thomas HSS, Aldona)

Third Place: Yash Jagdish Durbhatkar (St. Andrew’s HSS, Vasco)

First Consolation: Chetana Naik (Dr. K.B. Hedgewar HSS, Cujira)

Second Consolation: Meagan Grace Dias (G.V.M.’s SNJA HSS, Ponda)

All participants were awarded certificates, while the winners received trophies, certificates, and cash prizes. The event was coordinated by Daryl John Abranches and Lavina Pereira, with support from staff and student volunteers. PTA chairman Jose Nazareth D’Souza welcomed the gathering, while Daryl Abranches proposed the vote of thanks.

The school management thanked all participating institutions for their enthusiastic involvement, calling the event “a resounding success.”
