BJP MLA, Congress MLC Clash at KDP Review Meeting in Bidar
Bidar : A review meeting of the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) was disrupted on Monday following a physical altercation between a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and a Congress Member of the Legislative Council (MLC).
The incident occurred during discussions on developmental and administrative issues, including alleged encroachment of forest land. A verbal exchange between the two legislators escalated, leading to a brief scuffle inside the meeting hall. Officials and police personnel present intervened and separated them.
The meeting, chaired by Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre, was adjourned following the disruption. Mr. Khandre later described the incident as unfortunate and appealed to elected representatives to maintain decorum during official proceedings.
Videos of the altercation circulated on social media, prompting the police to step up security in and around the venue as a precautionary measure. No formal complaint was reported to have been filed in connection with the incident.
