It’s War Time, Show Must NOT Go On : Prabhav Naik
Margao: Madganvcho Awaaz & Youth Leader Prabhav Naik have strongly criticised the State Government’s decision to organise large-scale publicity events at a time when common citizens are struggling with rising prices of essential commodities, particularly the latest hike in LPG cylinder prices. He stated that when households are finding it difficult to manage basic expenses, the government must prioritise relief for people instead of spending crores on publicity-driven programmes.
Naik pointed out that just yesterday, in his Budget speech, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced the “Sarkar Tumchya Daari” initiative. Governance must certainly reach the people, but it should be through efficient and service-oriented administration rather than by organising grand publicity events across the state at a huge cost to the exchequer, Naik said.
He further expressed concern over the emerging global situation, noting that the Middle East has once again turned into a war zone, creating uncertainty for thousands of Goans working in the region. If the prevailing situation continues, many families in Goa who depend on the earnings of their relatives abroad may be forced to cut down household spending and face serious financial distress.
In view of these circumstances, Naik stated that the government should immediately announce strict austerity measures and curtail all avoidable expenditure. Public funds must be utilised with utmost prudence during such uncertain times rather than being spent on publicity-driven programmes.
Naik, therefore, demanded that the Government immediately scrap all such publicity events, including the proposed “Sarkar Tumchya Daari” programme, and divert the funds toward providing relief to the common man and supporting families facing economic uncertainty. “At a time when people are tightening their belts, the government too must show restraint and focus entirely on public welfare,” Naik said.
