The World Legends Pro T20 League on Saturday organised a beach cricket session at Miramar Beach, bringing together former international cricketers, Goa’s public representatives, and local children in an outreach event aimed at promoting sport beyond stadium spaces.
Former players, including Eoin Morgan, Piyush Chawla and Shikhar Dhawan, took part in the informal match with children on the beach. At the same time, Michael Clarke officiated as umpire during the session held around sunset.
Among those present were Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, MLA Govind Gaude, MLA Premendra Shet, MLA Pravin Arlekar, MLA Rajesh Faldessai and Tourism Director Kedar Naik. The leaders joined the activity and interacted with participants, highlighting the State’s push to link sports promotion with tourism and community engagement.
Mr. Khaunte said Goa is positioning itself as a sports tourism destination and that such initiatives help take sport closer to people while adding to the State’s experiential appeal for visitors and families.
Mahesh Bhupathi, CEO of the World Legends Pro T20 League, said the beach event reflected the league’s effort to connect cricket with communities through informal and inclusive formats alongside competitive fixtures.
Organisers said the session focused on participation and accessibility, with children playing alongside former cricketers in a non-competitive setting. The event forms part of the league’s off-field engagement activities planned around the tournament.
The World Legends Pro T20 League matches are currently being held at the Goa 1919 Sportz Cricket Stadium. Tickets are available online through BookMyShow.
