Kishor Arjun receives ‘Publisher-Writer Award’
Panaji:
The All India Marathi Publishers Association has conferred the Publisher Writer Award for 2024 on writer and publisher Kishor Arjun. The award was presented by noted actor Yogesh Soman at a public programme held in Pune recently.
Former President of the Marathi Sahitya Sammelan Bharat Sasane, Association President Rajendra Barve, Secretary Parag Lonkar, publisher Ashok Mulye and publisher L M Kadu were present on the occasion.
The Publishers Association annually recognises notable contributions in the field of publishing, with several award categories. The Publisher Writer category honours publishers who also contribute as authors. Kishor Arjun was selected for the 2024 honour for his Marathi translation of the Konkani play Question Mark, written by young playwright Gautam Gawde and published under the Sahit Prakashan imprint.
Speaking about the award, Kishor said that significant creative work is being produced in Konkani and Marathi, and that his organisation, Sahit, has consistently worked to make such literature accessible in other Indian languages through translation. “Only through such efforts can wider readerships engage with Konkani literature and its writers. This award is an encouragement for our work, and we will continue to bring more Konkani writing into various Indian languages,” he said.
