Aldona School Felicitates Students Who Cycle Daily to Classes
Aldona, :
St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona, marked Children’s Day by felicitating 18 students, 16 boys and 2 girls for commuting to school daily by bicycle. The initiative aims to promote fitness, environmental awareness and safe commuting habits among students.
The students were presented with tokens of appreciation by the school’s Manager, Fr. Jerard Sahayaraj, Principal, Ms. Angelica Fernandes, and Senior Teacher, Mr. Amarnath Panjikar. The school authorities lauded the students for their discipline and commitment to sustainable transport.

Speaking on the occasion, senior teacher Amarnath Panjikar said the students had set “an inspiring example” for their peers. At a time when many students resort to using motorcycles without being eligible for licenses, he noted, the choice to cycle reflects responsible behaviour and a commitment to health and eco-friendly practices.
The school reiterated that cycling contributes significantly to physical fitness while also reducing pollution and supporting a cleaner environment. Other students have been encouraged to adopt the practice.
The initiative was coordinated by Mr. Panjikar with the objective of motivating a larger number of students to rely on bicycles as a sustainable mode of travel.
