K. Vaikunth Centenary To Be Commemorated In Margao

Margao: Madganvcho Awaaz will commemorate the Birth Centenary of Margao’s son and acclaimed cinematographer K. Vaikunth on Monday, 25th August 2025 at 4.30 pm, at Imperial Hall, MCC Club, Rajendra Prasad Ground, Margao. Announcing the programme, youth leader Prabhav Naik said that the event is being organised to pay tribute to a creative personality who brought pride and recognition to Goa through his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.
The commemoration will also mark the concluding day of the centenary year celebrations of K. Vaikunth. The event will be graced by the presence of the Kunkalienkar family, along with prominent members of the film fraternity of Goa. According to Naik, their participation will add immense value to the programme, as it represents both family legacy and the professional world that K. Vaikunth helped shape during his illustrious career.
K. Vaikunth is remembered as one of the pioneering cinematographers of Goa. With his creative brilliance, he carried the name of Margao far beyond the borders of the State and left a lasting mark on Indian cinema at the national level. “Through his artistic lens and unique vision, K. Vaikunth left behind an indelible imprint on Indian cinema, which continues to inspire filmmakers and audiences alike,” Naik observed.
He further emphasised that the life and journey of K. Vaikunth remain a beacon of inspiration for the younger generation. His story encourages today’s youth to dream beyond limitations, to break barriers, and to recognise the transformative power of art, culture, and creativity in shaping both identity and expression.
Madganvcho Awaaz, Naik added, considers it a matter of deep privilege and pride to honour the memory of K. Vaikunth. The organisation believes that his remarkable contribution is not only an artistic achievement but also a treasured chapter in Goa’s cultural heritage, one that deserves to be remembered, celebrated, and carried forward for generations to come.
Concluding his statement, Prabhav Naik made a heartfelt appeal: “I call upon the youth of Goa to celebrate and carry forward the spirit of K.
