Where Function Meets Flair: Vaishali Shah’s Design Philosophy in Action
Mumbai: For over 15 years, Ms. Vaishali Lahoti Shah has been an integral part of Godrej Interio, currently serving as the Design Lead for Home Storage. With a rich academic background in Architecture and Product Design, Ms. Shah brings a deep understanding of space planning, ergonomics, and user-centric functionality to her role.
She joined the organisation in 2007 as Deputy Manager – Design and has since contributed significantly to shaping innovative storage solutions tailored for Indian homes. Her design philosophy is rooted in the belief that good design can change the world—starting with the small, everyday elements that often go unnoticed but deeply influence users’ lives.
“A kitchen isn’t just about utility; it’s a space of emotion and rhythm,” says Ms. Shah, who admits her passion for cooking fuels her intuitive understanding of kitchen layouts. Her obsession with organisation and efficiency seamlessly translates into her work, where form meets function with elegance and purpose.
Ms. Shah emphasizes the ethical responsibility of designers to create products that not only improve user experience but also minimise environmental and material waste. “Designing isn’t just about making something new, it’s about making something right,” she says.
