Amarnath criticizes CM Pramod Sawant over Barve’s appointment
Panaji :
It looks like while explaining how Atmaram Barve associated with RSS & BJP was fitting in eligibility criteria of State Information Commissioner, CM Dr. Pramod Sawant conveniently forgot to mention Sub-clause 6 of Chapter IV of Right to Information Act -2005. CM has got Short Memory syndrome, stated Congress Media Cell Chairman Amarnath Panjikar.
He was reacting to the statement made by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to media justifying appointment of close aid of RSS and BJP as well as OSD to CM Atmaram Barve as State Information Commissioner.
I want to remind the Chief Minister that the Right to Information Act which was passed by Congress Government under Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was one of the biggest gift to the Citizens of India. Congress always believed in transperancy and accountability, stated Amarnath Panjikar.
It is clearly stated in Clause 6 of Chapter IV of RTI Act that State Chief Information Commissioner or State Information Commissioner shall not be a Member of Parliament or Member of Legislature of any State or Union Territory, as the case may be, or hold any other office of profit or connected with any political party or carrying on any business or pursuing any profession, pointed Amarnath Panjikar.
Just few days aways BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanawade in a Congratulatory Message posted on Facebook had stated that Atamaram Barve is Grassroot Karyakarta of BJP. This shows the association of Atmaram Barve with BJP, claimed Amarnath Panjikar.
We hope better sense will prevail and BJP Government will withdraw the order failing which Government will have to face a strong protest from Goans. Congress Party will not allow Murder of State Information Commission by BJP, warned Amarnath Panjikar.
