Withdraw Notification Allowing Liquor Shops To Come Close To Temples Of Education & Faith - Yuri Alemao

Margao :

BJP Government’s Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant allowing Liquor Shops within 100 metres of Educational Institutions and Religious Places by increasing License Fees will destroy the Future of Youths. Government must adopt Austerity measures and stop wasteful expenditure on events, stated Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.

I demand immediate withdrawal of the Notification allowing the Bars and Liquor Shops to come close to Temples of Education & Faith. The sanctity of these places needs to be protected at all times, said Yuri Alemao.

Reacting to the decision of the Government to allow Liquor Shops within 100 metres of the Educational Institutions and Religious Places by increasing the License Fees, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao stated that the Government’s decision will ruin the future of our Youths and will further destroy the Identity of Goa.

It appears that the BJP Government has lost its Mental Balance. The Government of the “Party with a Difference” is now doing everything differently. They first allowed Sale of Liquor at the Sacred Aguada Jail Precinct which is worshiped by our Freedom Fighters and their Families. Now, they want Liquor Shops next to the Compound Walls of Schools and Religious Places. BJP Government will do anything to make money, said Yuri Alemao.

BJP Government is patronising the Liquor Mafia in Goa. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant replied to me in the Goa Legislative Assembly that the government is not aware of the Statement made by the Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah wherein he had claimed that illegal Liquor is transported from Goa to Karnataka. The reply given to me exposes that the BJP Government is deliberately turning a blind eye on illegal trade of liquor, claimed Yuri Alemao.

Government must focus on stopping the illegal Trade of Liquor rather than trying to increase the revenue by allowing Liquor Shops next to Temples of Education & Faith, stated Yuri Alemao.
